
Onside Athletics will comply with all Public Health Regulations and will be in constant communication with the local Public Health authorities. In doing so, Onside Athletics will implement the following procedures to maintain a safe and healthy camp environment for all participants, staff, volunteers, and guests.
Onside Athletics will have zero tolerance for abuse of policy. If a camper or staff member is unwilling to comply with the protocols as laid out, they will be asked to leave the facilities/program. No refunds will be provided for a camper dismissed from the program.
Health & Safety Policies and Procedures – (Updated January 19, 2021)
Screening Protocol:
- All individuals (staff and campers) must complete a self assessment prior to arrival. Parents must take the temperature of their child each day before arriving to camp.
- Anyone who has a temperature of 38 degrees C or higher will not be allowed to enter and will need to refrain from attending camp for 2 full days.
- Any individual who displays any COVID-19 symptoms will be denied entry to the camp.
- Children who live with someone who has recently been sick and/or displayed a fever of 38 degrees or higher will be asked to remain at home.
- Children who reside with someone who has traveled outside of Canada within the past two weeks will be asked to remain at home.
- Staff members will be screened upon arrival. Staff members who are ill will not be allowed to come into work.
- Where possible, daily screening should be done electronically prior to arrival at camp. If screening is done at camp physical distancing will be maintained.
- A health questionnaire will be completed by all guests, staff, and visitors prior to arrival on property.
Cleaning Protocol:
- Cleaning and disinfecting of frequently touched surfaces (doorknobs, light switches, etc.) will be done a minimum of three times a day.
- A cleaning log will be kept in common use areas and all cleaning will be recorded and posted.
- A custodian will be coming in every night after camp and disinfecting/cleaning the entire site.
- If teams need to use the same space that another team had been in the room must be cleaned and disinfected before and after using the space. This will be tracked with a cleaning log.
- Hand washing will be done frequently. Onside will ensure that the majority of handwashing will be done with soap and water.
- Eating surfaces will be disinfected before and immediately after eating.
- All materials and equipment used at Onside will be made of materials that can be cleaned and disinfected. Single-use equipment and materials will be disposed of at the end of the day (or locked in a sealed container for 7 days).
- Each child should have their own equipment. There will be no sharing of equipment.
- All cleaning products used by Onside will have a DIN number.
Covid-19 Reporting Protocol:
If a camp participant or staff member begins to experience symptoms:
- Participant must be immediately separated from others in a supervised area until they can go home.
- Contact the local public health unit to notify them of a potential case and seek advice regarding the information that should be shared with parents/guardians of participants
- Environmental cleaning/disinfection of space will be conducted once participant has been picked up
- Participants with symptoms should be tested
- Other camp participants and staff who were present, while a camp participant or staff member became ill, should be identified as a close-contact and further cohorted until they can be picked up to self-isolate until test results come back.
If a camp participant or staff member tests positive:
- Those who test positive for COVID-19 must be excluded from the program for 14 days after the onset of symptoms and clearance has been received.
- Camp participants or staff who have been exposed to a confirmed case of COVID-19 will be excluded from the program setting for 14 days.
If a camp participant or staff member tests negative:
- Those who test negative for COVID-19 must be excluded from the program for 24 hours after symptoms resolution
- Daily records will be kept of anyone entering the camp setting who stays for 15 minutes or longer. Records will be kept up to date to ensure tracing of exposure.
- Onside will have protocols in place to notify parents/guardians if their camp participant begins to show symptoms of COVID-19 while in camp. Pick-up will need to be immediate. The camp participant will be isolated until they are picked up.
