Our ball hockey leagues are fun, co-ed, and recreational. At each of our leagues we aim to provide a fun and entertaining experience for the whole family, whether you’re a player or a spectator. Our leagues are open to new and experienced players alike. Each league is hosted by a local church within your community. Your child will be lead by coaches who are volunteering their time to provide your child with an excellent experience playing the game of hockey, all while teaching your child what it means to play with character. What is Onside Ball Hockey?

Our ball hockey leagues are designed to be fun, co-ed and recreational. Our aim is to be family friendly, affordable and convenient.

Who is Onside Ball Hockey for?

Leagues are provided for boys and girls from grades JK – 8.

When does Onside Ball Hockey run?

We provide a fall league and a winter league in Guelph.

What night and time will my child play?

We aim to provide your family with a family friendly schedule. Meaning your whole family will play on the same night. All games will take place on the same day each week, at the same time and at the same location.

Where does Onside Ball Hockey take place?

Our fall league is played out of Crestwicke Church (400 Speedvale Avenue East, Guelph). Our winter league is played out of Calvary Church (454 Arkell Road, Guelph).

How much does Onside Fall Ball Hockey cost?

Our ball hockey leagues cost $105.00/player.

What does a typical game day look like?

Each night will include a game consisting of two 18 minute halves. At the end of the game your child will participate in a team talk which emphasizes character development from a Christian perspective.

What are “Team-Talks”?

At Onside we want your child to learn more than how to play a specific sport. After each game your child’s team will participate in a “Team-Talk”. The “Team-Talk” emphasizes character development taught from a Christian perspective.

Who are the coaches and volunteers?

Each league is sponsored by a local church that provides many of our league volunteers. Each church is committed to serving their community by providing an affordable and enjoyable experience to your family.

What equipment does my child need?

Your child will need running shoes, shin pads (soccer), shorts, hockey helmet with a mask and a water bottle.

Do you provide financial assistance/bursaries?

What does my child receive?

Each child will receive a team jersey and socks, an end-of-season-award, and personalized hockey cards.

ICE HOCKEY
camp

Our ice hockey camp are designed to not only teach and develop your child’s hockey skills, but to teach your child much more! We use the game of hockey to teach your child valuable lessons on leadership and personal character all taught from a Christian perspective.  Our instructors and coaches have played at all levels (including Junior and Professional) and are committed to seeing your child develop their on-ice abilities as well as their leadership abilities. Our camps are for boys and girls, grades  4 – 8, who have at least played one year of organized hockey.  Our camps are geared to players who play house league through to AA.

Who can participate?

The camp is designed for boys and girls, Grades 4 – 8 (as of September 2017). All players must have played a minimum of year of organized ice hockey.  Camp is designed for players who are below AA.

Where does camp take place?

The morning on-ice portion of the camp will take place at the University of Guelph. The afternoons will include dry-land training, swimming and other activities.  The camp will conclude with a full day trip to Bingemans. To see a full schedule please CLICK HERE.

How much does camp cost?

The camp will cost $285.00.  Payment can be made by cheque or credit card.

What can my child expect at camp?

Your child can expect a morning of on ice hockey development and scrimmages.  The afternoon activities will range from dry land training, swimming, and a local water park.

What equipment does my child need for hockey camp?

It is mandatory that all players wear approved hockey equipment. All players must wear a C.H.A. approved helmet.

What are the “chapels and team talks”?

At Onside Athletics our hope is to see your child develop in areas of Leadership, Faith and Character. Our chapels are designed to teach your child how to be players of character from a Christian perspective.

Our summer camps are developed with your family in mind. Our camps are aimed at providing your family with excellent summer programming at an affordable rate. Our camps are co-ed and are offered for children ages 4 to 13. On each day your child can expect a morning of sports, a healthy snack, a team talk, and an afternoon that may include off site trips and camp activities. Each week will end with your child experiencing an offsite trip for the entire day. We provide a 6 to 1 staff to camper ratio and our leaders are trained to provide your child a fun and safe experience. This summer join us! For general information, see our camp FAQs. Who are Onside Summer Camps for?

Onside Summer camps are for boys and girls ages 4 to 13.

Where is the closes Onside camp?

For the summer 2017 we are running camps in Cambridge, Centre Wellington, Guelph, Kitchener, Markham, Scarborough, and Waterdown. Click on the community to view a camp schedule for each location.

What time does camp typically start and end?

Our summer camps typically begin at 9AM and end at 4PM.

Do you offer before and after care?

Most of our locations provide extended care. Before care is available beginning at 8AM and after care is available until 5PM.

What will my child receive?

Your child will receive a fun week of either ball hockey or soccer, a daily snack, weekly off site trips, and an Onside Summer Camp T-Shirt.

What does a typical week of camp look like?

On each day your child can expect a morning of sports, a healthy snack, a team talk, and an afternoon that may include off site trips and camp activities. Each week will end with your child experiencing an offsite trip for the entire day.

My child does not play the weekly sport can they still participate?

Yes. No matter your child’s skill level they can participate.

Can I sign my child up for more than one week of camp?

Yes you may. However, we ask that you sign your child up for no more than three weeks at each location. (If you need more camps for your child, please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate you).

What is the camper to staff ratio?

We strive for a 1 to 6, leader to camper ratio for our Tyke and Junior Camps and a 1 to 8, leader to camper ratio for our Intermediate Camps.

Do you have life guards for off-site trips involving swimming?

The safety of your child is our first priority. At any swimming trip we ensure that qualified lifeguards are present.

Will my child be playing with and against children of the same age?

Each camp is divided into two divisions, a younger division and an older division. Your child will play with and against children the same age.

Our soccer leagues are fun, co-ed, and recreational. Families can relax while their children play at one location on one night of the week. Our seasons run from the end of May to the end of July. Each child will receive a jersey, socks, end-of-year award and a set of individual personalized soccer cards. Our leagues are open to new and experienced players alike. Each league is sponsored by a local church within your community. Our volunteer coaching team pursues excellence in soccer, and in life, and looks forward to working with your child this summer. connect

Onside Connect is a co-ed multi-sport drop-in for youth Grade 6-8. The program is currently only offered in Guelph and is facilitated by volunteers at Crestwicke Church. The program runs weekly on Sunday evenings from February – April. Each week new teams will be made and we will play for an hour and a half. Throughout the evening your child will be involved in a group discussion focused on the Christian faith and character development.
